This day-long workshop is for those MBCT/MBSR teachers who wish to learn mentorship skills with a view toward training future teachers. Whether you are a novice or experienced teacher, if mentoring is an activity in which you hope to engage (in the near or distant future), this workshop will train you in the basic competencies of mentoring and training mindfulness teachers. This program will be highly experiential and will cover such aspects of mentoring as logistics, goal setting, listening skills, and discerning what to focus on, delivering feedback, competency assessment (using the MBI-TAC), increasing our self reflective capacity around our own teaching, and much more.
Workshop Objectives:
- To learn basic mentorship skills.
- To learn how to organize and manage the logistical components of mentorship (technology, documents, scheduling, goal setting, etc.).
- To learn a standardized approach to mentorship consistent with the goals of CMS professional training.
- To increase confidence through practice and feedback around mentorship.
- To learn to provide mentorship in a mindfully informed way (inquiry and embodiment) balanced with providing needed information and a safe container consistent with the needs of the mentee.
